I had lunch today with some of my girlfriends from Nursing School. It was great! Chill, and calm just what I needed. I got Mardi Gras beads and everything, we went to a little restaurant in Santana Row that ironically was Cajun in atmosphere and food. It was good. I think the name was Roux? Try it sometime.
Then today I got the call from the Nurse Recruiter from San Joaquin Community Hospital, where I had interviewed two weeks ago for a Labor and Delivery position with in the VERSANT New Graduate Program. After having had that interview feeling great about it I didnt think that I would be happy working there at least not as a L and D nurse, even though it is my second choice.
Today though I thought I would be offered a interview for the Surgical unit which was my second choice, instead I was told that the manager of the unit who oversees the area of the hospital assigned to Pediatric clients (no they dont have a Pediatric wing) was interested in taking me on. She liked how much experience, knowledge and passion I have for working with children. She told the Nurse Recruiter shed like to talk to me/interview me over the phone because she didnt have time to meet with me in person (nor did I really...so it worked out for both of us) anywho we talked for like an hour, I was able to pull out all my cards and I won her over! I got the job! I am a Pediatric Nurse! Cross training in Med/Surg. The unit is right now this way because they have never had the need for a Pediatric wing, but they have acquired a contract from Kaiser- which means that they will be recieving all of their clients and this will cause a need in expanding the Pediatric wing and NICU. The nurse manager is looking for individuals who know- the ins and outs and deep down dont just know their Pediatric knowledge but its who they are! This is me! So after my hour of discussion with her, I got a call an hour later from the Nurse Recruiter that the Nurse Manager would like to have me on her team! How exciting! I am barely out of school and have a job! Go mee! Not only that, I have the opportunity to be apart of something big, great and help build a part of an expanding hospital. I am always looking for ways to leave a mark and I think this is the avenue that I am meant to go in. Follow your dreams and they will come true~!
