No Rain, No Rainbows

In light of the recent weather CA has been having;

I am reminded of one of my favorite poems. 9 years ago when I went to Maui, I bought a t-shirt with this poem on it, it has several sayings that are very true and help keep a positive perspective on life.

Kimo's Hawaiian Rules
: No Rain, No Rainbows

Never judge a day by the weather.This is so true. You never know how your day is going to turn out based on what it starts out like. The other day I was going to LA to see my best friends and have some long overdue Girls time. But once I reached the Grapevine, it was closed. I had to turn around and come all the way back to Fresno. Man I was tired of driving but all in all it was not a bad day. I was disappointed but nonetheless, I still had a nice day.

The best things in life aren't things. To me this means that I need to be a better girlfriend, daughter, sister and friend. I have come to realize that I am a bit of a selfish person, and that it is not a good trait to have. Its okay to be a little self-confident but not egotistical which is what I mostly feel I am.

Tell the truth - there's less to remember. This is one I always do, it usually gets me into trouble though. Because most people dont want to hear the truth, accept the truth and it can be hurtful. However, if a person ever judged me they would not say I was a liar or deceitful.

Speak softly and wear a loud shirt.I am trying to work on biting my tongue in order to give other people a chance to speak, hear what they have to say. Realize that I am not the only one with good ideas and thoughts. That my way is not the only way. I need to learn from others. Sometimes the best way to be heard is to say nothing at all.

Goals are deceptive - the unaimed arrow never misses.Its funny this one, I think that this is called FATE; by way of GOD's Plans for everyone. Sometimes goals change, based on the events that take place on the way to achieving a larger goal. The little goals that are achieved make reaching the larger goal all that more worthwhile.

He who dies with the most toys - still dies.Yup, Yup. Self-explanatory.

Age is relative - when you're over the hill, you pick up speed.Not sure I know this one yet, but I am sure I will.

There are 2 ways to be rich - make more or desire less.This is one I am working on, to desire less. So I can save my money, and go to the 4 weddings I have to attend this year!

Beauty is internal - looks mean nothing.The second one I am working on. Making my personality more beautiful.

No Rain - No Rainbows.®
Again, No rain, No Rainbows. Not everything is pretty and sunny all the time, if it was then when it was pretty and sunny it would not be as rewarding to have the warmth and sunshine. Learning to cope through the rough times makes the good times all that more rewarding. If all you do is focus on the bad, then you will miss the good parts that sometimes peak through.

Each one of these sayings has a different meaning to everyone, but for me it was nice to remember this poem and reflect on my current life's emotions and thoughts. I've been in a funk (mentally-emotionally) lately and its nice to have thisto recapture my positiveness. I guess its just a growing process I am going through.

Enough said. Hope these little sayings bring some meaning to your life too!
